「毎日楽しいの為に」 Flawless Passion
In this second month of the year 2017, everything I purchased was for Sword Art Online. Its movie, Ordinal Scale released in theaters on the 18th, and that was the start of all this. Through the release of the movie, I found out about the existence of 前売券 and the various bonuses it can come with from various stores. Although I was too late for the 前売券 bonuses through official means, I hunted them down from online auctions. Plus, I had known about the items that will be for sale at the gift shop corner of theaters ahead of time, but the theater I went to had other additional goodies for fans to collect. On top of that, this month also had the SAO Cyber Security event where I gathered even more loots. All in all, this month became SAO saturated.
All of my SAO loots during the month of February:

Alright, I admit that is a lot of stuff, so let’s set the Cyber Security event goods aside and look at this set of loots here which consists mainly of items directly related to the movie’s release.
First, here is the 前売券, my advance ticket for viewing the movie. The bottom part of the ticket gets traded in at the theater for the actual seating ticket. The remaining top half you see above can be kept as a collectible or memorial.
At selected theaters, each viewing of the movie gets you a bonus goody. What the bonus will be changes from week to week, with a total of 8 weeks of viewer bonuses announced. The first and second week bonus are the post cards you see above.
This is the official pamphlet I purchased at the theater’s gift shop. They call these a “pamphlet”, but this is a full size book with quite the number of pages. Although I have seen movies in theaters in Japan and purchasd items from the gift shops before, this is the first official pamphlet I ever bought of a movie. Up until now, I had no idea what kind of contents such official pamphlets contained.
Upon holding the book in my hands, all I could say was mutter “wow”.
Inside the pamphlet are explanations and detailed information regarding various things in the movie, concept art of characters and bosses, and a bunch of interviews which included the cast of every major character in the movie plus staff members and more. Really, reading through the entire book will take some time.
This is the B2 sized tapestry featuring the main key visual of the movie. Personally, I am quite a fan of this artwork.
At the theater I went to were some limited edition popcorn for sale, and purchasing that popcorn gets you a random IC card sticker out of a total of 4 types. I like how it comes in a case. The sticker I received features Yuna and Eiji, two new characters original to the movie, so I am pretty satisfied with what I got.
The is the bag of the limited edition popcorn mentioned above. I don’t recall the popcorn itself being any different and compared to the regular bucket of popcorn you can buy, this is much smaller in volume for a much higher price. With that said, you get to keep this bag plus the IC card sticker above.
Here is the clear file I purchased at the theater’s gift shop. Apparently this also comes with a small square clear sticker.
From the Aniplex+ store was this set of acrylic charms and ticket case. I found the art to be too adorable to ignore, and also fitting for as a celebration of the joy of watching the movie on the first day. Just look at them holding up popcorn and a drink! The so-call ticket case is made of a thin transparent plastic like those used for clear files and is folded up like a pamphlet.
A close of the the acrylic charms featuring Asuna and Yui. Given the nature of the acrylic and the two of them chained together, I am very afraid that the two charms will bump against each other, causing scratches and other irreversible damage, so I need to take extra caution in handling and storing this item.
From Dengekiya was this acrylic display plate featuring an illustration from Ordinal Scale along with a message card. This artwork was drawn by the artist Abec, the illustrator of the novels. I was in awe at the beauty of this illustration at first sight and now it is a proudly owned favorite item. Having this illustration displayed as a stand up acrylic plate was simply perfect.
Here is a set of flyers with the 3 key visuals for Ordinal Scale. On the back are some descriptions and screenshots, with the third flyer being a pamphlet that opens up, containing cast interviews on the inside pages.
In addition to goods related to the Ordinal Scale movie, I also bought the Dengekiya bonuses for the game Hollow Realization, which consists of a pin badge and an A3 size tapestry. The illustration for the tapestry is also drawn by Abec, featuring Kirito, Asuna, and the new character Premiere.
At Sega game centers, a campaign related to SAO was in effect where you could trade in your receipt of the movie ticket for a post card. Since I watched the movie multiple times, I had some spare ones to trade in.
Lastly, here is the theater original drink cup which comes with a random figure of either Kirito or Asuna that can be mounted on the top of the cup. As you can see above, I received the Asuna figure. Sadly the quality of the figure is quite low, and mine in particular has some noticeable imperfections on the hair. The cup itself however, is very nice and I like it a lot. The neon blue outlines contrasts very well with the black base and almost shines in the light.
Finally finished with showing all of the movie related loots, next up is my set of goodies I received from attending the SAO Cyber Security event in Akihabara.
Lining up first thing in the morning was to get my hands on this booklet containing a short manga by 比村奇石, who is the manga-ka drawing the SAO: Progressive manga. The contents of the manga features SAO characters talking about online security. In particular, I like the scene where all of the heroines’ passwords were apparently “kirito1007” (name + birth date).
Along with the manga booklet, I also received this flyer talking about the newly established national certification that proves one’s ability with information security.
Down stairs on the B1 floor were a number of booths and areas for various exhibitors related to either cyber security or SAO. There, a stamp rally event was held where walking around the floor to gather 3 stamps will award you with 2 clear files featuring the SAO & Cyber Security collaboration illustrations.
Front and back of the stamp card for the stamp rally.
Before I headed down stairs, after the first line I stood in was a second line for getting the special paper bag together with two posters. I won’t be unrolling these posters out but I am fairly certain that the pictures of these posters are the same as the illustrations of the 2 clear files.
And that, are all of my Sword Art Online loots I gathered within this month. It is a surprising amount I admit, but perhaps it is also an accurate representation of the excitement I felt from the movie. For sure, there will be more of SAO in the future, whether it be another movie, third TV season, games, or whatnot. I look forward to diving more into the world of Sword Art Online.
