Flawless Passion
Compared to the first month, the amount of loots for this second month in Japan is quite tame. For myself, I had only purchased four boxes of gunpla, while everything else were free goodies I received through campaigns, events, or friends. That’s right, the benefits of being in Japan. Let’s go take a look at the details of what I purchased and what I received as bonuses.
The bunch of new stuff this month:
- [HG] ガンダム グシオン リベイク フルシティ Gundam Gushion Rebake Full City
Gundam Exia [Trans-Am Clear ver.]
- [HG] 百里 Hyakuri
- [HG] 百錬 Hyakuren
[ガンプラEXPO 2016冬 入場特典] 1/100 Sword Mace Gunmetal ver. [Gunpla Expo 2016 Winter Entry Bonus]
Chain Chronicle Clear File Set
The second Gundam Frame of Tekkadan, fitting for my second model from Tekketsu no Orphans 2nd season, the Gundam Gushion Rebake Full City (long name). Initially, I was unsure of the Gushion Rebake’s new design, but now I absolutely like it. It feels a little odd to have purchased the Full City prior to the regular Gushion Rebake, but I will definitely wait until I have built the Gushion Rebake before starting on this kit. So that will be quite a wait…
When I purchased the HG Gundam Gushion Rebake Full City at the Sofmap in Akihabara, at the cashier counter was a stack of postcards that appeared to be for free. Curious, I asked for one and thus I received one. Although I have no idea who this character is or if she is from any series to begin with, it is really nice little bonus. ^^
Purchasing this clear Trans-Am version of the RG Exia was a last minute decision I made while lining up for the Gunpla Expo’s limited store. I was there to purchase the P-Bandai exclusive RG 00 Gundam 7 Swords in place of a friend when I decided to also purchase something for myself in celebration of attending my first Gunpla Expo. Inside, you can see that all of the parts, with the exception of the frame, are in clear plastic. My idea for this kit is to make use of the clear plastic and clever methods of painting to create my very own unique Trans-Am Exia. The blades of the weapons also have a unique finish that Bandai had never implemented on kits before. Depending of the angle of light, the blades will look reddish or greenish.
I can’t simply let the second season of Tekketsu no Orphans take all of the spotlight, so next from the first season, I purchased the Teiwaz mobile suits, the Hyakuri and Hyakuren. Even to this day, I don’t understand why Amida Arca’s custom Hyakuren is a regular release while more prominent custom mobile suits, such as Gaelio’s Schwalbe Graze, are P-Bandai exclusives.
Here are two bags of gunpla related accessories I received as a part of campaigns and events. On the left, is the Gunpla Expo 2016 Winter participation prize, a 1/100 scale Sword Mace Gunmetal ver. for the 1/100 Full Mechanics Gundam Barbatos Lupus, which was released on the same day. On the right, is the HG Tekketsu no Orphans Display Stand Campaign bonus, for which I received the Tekkadan Clear Black ver. For the display stand campaign, there were a total of 4 types. I really do want the remaining 3 to complete the set, but the stocks ran out fast. Perhaps someday I will buy them second hand.
Lastly, while walking around Akihabara after purchasing the clear RG Trans-Am Exia and my friend’s RG 00 Gundam 7 Swords, I was simply handed a set of 3 clear files for the game Chain Chronicle. That’s right, these were handed out for free to random people passing by, probably to advertise for the game. I don’t play nor know anything about the game, but I do remember being curious about it when I came cross the title before. I have too much on my hands to pick up another new series to get into, but I like the art, so I gladly accepted this set of clear files. Two of them are really nice, a key visual art and a group of silhouettes overlooking the landscape. The back of those two has the series logo (left). The third clear file has pictures of what appears to be old consoles that Chain Chronicle used to be on and now the smartphone (right). Kind of funny.
