「毎日楽しいの為に」 Flawless Passion
To speak of December and loots is to speak of Christmas itself. I have wrote in detail about how spent my Christmas this year here in this post. In summary, I bought myself a couple things, and received the PS Vita game Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization as a present from my little brother. Outside of the Christmas gifts, I had a couple other minor things as a part of my loots. Let’s take a look.
My last loots of 2016 consists of:
- [HG] 獅電 Shiden
- [Figure-rise Bust] ホシノ・フミナ Hoshino Fumina
- -PSV- ソードアート・オンライン -ホロウ・リアリゼーション- [通常版] Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization [Regular Edition]
- この島には淫らで邪悪なモノが棲む ２ Kono Shima niha Midarade Jaakuna Mono ga Sumu Vol.2
- クデリア コースター（ガンダムカフェ） Orga Itsuka Coaster (Gundam Cafe)
I knew I wanted my third model kit from Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans season 2 to be the Shiden, but more precisely, I wanted Shino’s customized Shiden (AKA Ryuusei-gou), which happens to be a Premium Bandai exclusive. Ordering from the P-Bandai store is a little pricier than usual, but the biggest deciding factors were the late release date and my dislike for the mono color box that for sure the Ryuusei-gou will come in. As a result, I decided to settle for the regular Shiden instead, and if necessary, scratch build on my own the unique parts from the Shino’s Ryuusei-gou.
Here is a close up of the Shiden. I am still in the middle of building it, but as you can see, it is mostly completed. Just some armors on the arm, leg, along with the backpack and weapons to be assembled.
From my visit to Gundam Cafe this month for my last chance at ordering from the Tekkadan 2nd-half menu, I received this paper coaster of Orga. The designs of the paper coaster along with the glass cups were different than the ones from the 1st-half menu.
As a modeler, the Figure-rise Bust line of model kits was interesting to me. However, it is not my thing to collect figures of male characters nor does the Gundam franchise have much female characters that I am a fan of… with the characters from Build Fighters being the only exceptions. That’s right, Hoshino Fumina ❤(｡･ω･｡). She was the perfect candidate for me to get acquainted with these new Figure-rise Bust model kits. Two other characters I would love to see in Figure-rise Busts are Aila and Shia.
Inside the box are a bunch of parts and pieces in very different shapes compared to the usual gunpla parts I am used to. For sure, when I get around to building Fumina, it would be a very different but fun experience. One of the biggest key features regarding the Figure-rise Bust brand is the injection layer technology used to make the part for the eyes. Not a sticker and no paint necessary, just a single part that consists of several colors of plastic all finely molded together without seams. In fact, the transitions between colors is so smooth, it is hard to realize that each color is their own piece.
Besides the Figure-rise Bust of Fumina, I was incredibly happy with getting the game Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization. This is fourth game from the Sword Art Online series. The third SAO game that came out, Lost Song, was the only one made by an entirely different studio, and thus possesses a completely different style of gameplay from the other three games. That means Hollow Realization belongs in the evolutionary line of Infinite Moment to Hollow Fragment to Hollow Realization, following the same atmosphere and feeling of game. Each new game was an improvement over the previous iteration. In other words, Hollow Realization was seen from my eyes as the most grand and polished Sword Art Online game to be made yet.
About my experience in the game itself, I have played 2 hours so far. Upon starting the game, it was joyous for me to hear the voices of and see the SAO characters again, this time in new costumes. The trailers for this game were footage from the PS4 version and of course I knew that graphics on the PSV would be lower, but I still couldn’t help but felt a bit let down. In reality, the graphics are as good as Hollow Fragment and I simply need some time to override the PS4 imagery from my head. Regarding the combat system, auto-attacks were abandoned to now be completely real-time action based, which is my liking. However, compared to the Burst Attacks from Hollow Fragment, the slashing action movements felt somewhat clunky and I miss the initial dashing strike. And for whatever reason, in the key configurations, only the L button is not modifiable when I really really want to switch the L and R button functions around. After the initial shock of not being used to the new movements, I get to explore the town, which was simply magnificent. The Town of Beginning, based off of the very same town from Aincrad, and gameplay-wise, it is much much bigger than the 76th floor town in Infinite Moment or Hollow Fragment. The same could be said for the fields where monsters spawn and combat takes place. It is no exaggeration to say that the maps are several times the size of the ones in the previous games. They are no longer paths you follow but are truly worthy of the word “field”, ones that feel open and takes time to run across.
I really should focus more on manga. There is a lot I bought and haven’t read, and there is a lot to buy and get to reading. This month, I only followed this manga series. I finished volume 1 a while back, so I purchased volume 2 and actually finished reading it by the end of the month. I like the art, and so far nothing too violent in the story (yet, but could totally happen).
So that is all for this month’s and this year’s final loots! See you in 2017.
