Flawless Passion
My first package from AmiAmi since January! There just haven’t been much figures or goods that I wanted as of late. In the past few months, my monthly purchases were mainly manga. I suppose it is a good thing since I get to keep my expenses down.
Upon opening the package, I realized that my bad luck from April continued to May. Apparently, AmiAmi now includes a nice postcard in place of their previous paper slips. The bad luck was that the postcard was placed on top of the secondary flaps of the cardboard box, and you can imagine the rest when I cut open the tape on the box. It is not a big deal since I will likely get another one from a future order on AmiAmi, however it was still tiresome to have this on top of everything else that had happened.
Anyways, the inside of the package. Something in bubble wraps and a Nendoroid.
My loots for the month of May are:
- ねんどろいど島風 Nendoroid Shimakaze
Shokugeki no Souma Vol. 7
Masamune-kun no Revenge Vol. 3
Minamoto-kun Monogatari Vol. 5
You might be wondering where did the manga came from. Well, as mentioned in the corresponding Life This Month post, one of my friends and my little went to SF Japantown to get me these books.
Here is Nendoroid Shimakaze. I’m not exactly interested in the game, but the character designs seem quite interesting.
Since I don’t even have a PS Vita, I never had plans to purchase this Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment game, but I noticed that AmiAmi had an exclusive bonus and I predicted that this game will be pretty good. So if I am going to buy it eventually, I might as well buy it now because I knew that I will want the 1st edition bonus. I’m not in a rush to get a PS Vita, so for the time being, I lend the game to my little brother who does have a Vita.
I think that the development team really learned a lot from their PSP game (which I didn’t buy as I had my doubts). If anything, I feel that maybe someone new have taken charge and changed the direction as compared to the PSP game. The combat in particular is a major improvement.
Here are the stuff that game case contained and the AmiAmi bonus, which was a stand. More details on the AmiAmi stand just further down the page.
Tucked on the left side of the game case was a manual, a shiny card of Kirito, and a slip for SAO: End World. On the back of the card and slip are codes for bonus content on the respective games. End World is a mobile browser game, and for your information, it is accessible from Japan only. For the Hollow Fragment 1st edition bonus, I do like how they gave you a nice and shiny card with the code, rather than a cheap slip.
This is the AmiAmi exclusive stand. The plastic feels cheap and at certain angles, you can see a wavy rainbow of colors that resemble what you see on oil slicks or bubbles.
In addition, the stand sits at a very awkward angle. I don’t understand why they added a bend to the rear piece to make it slope so backwards. If you invert the piece upside-down, the stand just leans forward and flops down. This just wasn’t very well designed.
The illustration is printed on the backside of the front piece and the print work is just spectacular. You may be able to somewhat see it in the photo, but there is a bit of texture and relief on the print. Since it is printed on the back, you don’t have to worry about scratching the illustration when you set something on the stand.
Here is a close up photo. The printing was very sharp and the texture effect is just perfect. If only they used a different type of plastic, this bonus item would have been flawless. I’m going to need to take great care not to crack the plastic by accident.
