「毎日楽しいの為に」 Flawless Passion
My minimal loots streak continues with this month, only having a single package. I would like to note that I didn’t open the package prior to taking the photo. The package was opened for me. In my Life This Month April post, I had said that a roommate thought that the package was his and so he ripped opened the package like a barbarian. I will go into details of exactly why and how it happened below.
I was in my room when the mailman arrived at our doorstep with two packages. One of them was a box addressed to a roommate. The other was black bag (the one in the photos) addressed to no one. So casually, my roommate in the living room took both packages and handed them to the other roommate, who then proceeded to rip open the packages. After looking at the contents of the bag and realizing that it was not his, he came to me with a wrecked package. With the mess in my hand, I stood in my room trying to understand what the hell is going on, and my roommate in the living room came in to explain what I had just told you. After which, I went mad with fury and etc.
So thinking about the “addressed to no one” part. Take a look at the left photo above. Can you see my name and address? Somehow, it has faded or rubbed off to the point of being non-visible and my roommates didn’t bother with looking hard enough. Me? I noticed it right away. Another point that I’m upset with is how not just the black bag ripped open, but the clear plastic packaging for my loot was ripped as well. Thankfully nothing beyond the clear plastic packaging was damaged and I suppose I should just be glad that he didn’t use a scissor.
So here is what was in the package the whole time, my single loot for the month of April:
- 古手川唯 抱き枕カバー [2-way トリコット] Kotegawa Yui Dakimakura Cover [2-way Tricot]
For those unfamiliar with the character, Kotegawa Yui is from ToLove-Ru. I have been wanting to get a new dakimakura cover for a while and seeing how I didn’t have any online orders that will arrive in April, I decided to get this for my April loots. I ordered this dakimakura cover from Hobby Heart, probably the cheapest place to buy a dakimakura cover. Hobby Heart has a pretty big selection to choose from (including ones with not so official illustrations), and they sell other things such as T-shirts and iPhone cases as well. One thing that I don’t like about the website is that although there is a number of series listed on the left side, a lot of other series are simply lumped together under “Miscellaneous”.
Since a ripped bag isn’t very functional as a bag, I fixed it up as much as I could by taping it back together. On the upper right corner of the packaging was a picture of how the two sides of the dakimakura cover looks like, but I have my own photos below.
For a while, I debated upon which fabric material I wanted my dakimakura cover in. There really wasn’t a good and insightful guide to understand the qualities of the each fabric. I have a few dakimakura and pillow covers in different materials, but I couldn’t match what to what. Many people say that 2-way tricot is the best and one of my friends who does have dakimakura covers in 2-way tricot said that he likes it. Following my friend’s suggestion, I ordered 2-way tricot. A little extra in price isn’t as much of a concern as regretting the quality. After having my hands and eyes on it, I can definitely say that I have no regrets. Closely looking at the material, it resembles the material of my pillow covers, but silkier and less prone to ripping or getting dirty. The bottom side also has a zipper, which some of my pillow and dakimakura covers actually lack.
So out of all the characters that I could possibly have chosen, why did I chose Kotegawa Yui from ToLove-Ru? Well, the selection on Hobby Heart was certainly a factor, and it didn’t take me too long to narrow my preference down to ToLove-Ru and Boku ha Tomodachi ga Sukunai. I didn’t go for Haganai because I couldn’t decide between multiple characters. For ToLove-Ru, given the selection that was available, I was most interested in Momo’s and Yui’s dakimakura covers. Ultimately I chose Yui, not only because I do really like the character, but the illustrations fit so perfectly, plus Yui don’t get to appear as often as Momo does.
Dakimakura covers are one of the those things that I don’t buy very often. The more I buy simply means more to store since I can’t use any more than just a couple at a time. Because of that, I definitely put extra care in choosing the right one for myself. How many of you sleep with a dakimakura? Or do any of you hang them on your walls? I would hang bed sheets, but probably not dakimakura covers.
