「毎日楽しいの為に」 Flawless Passion
2 packages arrived this month. One from CD Japan, containing some manga. The other one is actually my brother’s. We both got interested in Cardfight Vanguard, and we noticed that certain JPN booster box sets were really cheap. We ended up deciding on trying set #15 Infinite Rebirth, splitting the loot. Let’s see how it turns out!
Here are the stuff I got for the month of July:
- 食戟のソーマ13 Shokugeki no Souma Vol. 13
- とある日常のいんでっくすさん3 Toaru Nichijou no Index-san Vol. 3
- マギサ・ガーデン5 Magisa Garden Vol. 5
- 俺のぱんつが狙われていた。3 Ore no Pantsu ga Nerawareteita Vol. 3
- ありそうでNASA荘1 Arisou de NASA-sou Vol. 1
- 新妹魔王の契約者5 Shinmai Maou no Testament Vol. 5
All of these manga are new subsequent volumes, with the exception of Arisou de NASA-sou, which the Hiiragi Yuuichi’s new manga series. His previous series, Zombitch ha Bitch ni Fukumaremasuka, finished at 6 volumes not too long ago. I am only up to volume 4, but I thoroughly enjoyed what I have read so far, so I want to support the author on his new series. Everything else, I have a lot of catching up to do.
The box was actually more compacted than I had expected. A single box contains 30 booster packs, and each pack contains 5 cards, which translates to 150 cards in total. In comparison, a Yugioh booster box has 24 packs with 9 cards in each pack, totaling 216 cards. Inside the Vanguard booster box was also a cards checklist. And in addition to the 5 cards, each pack had a chance for extra goodies. But as you can see on the right image, all 30 packs were misses.
At the very bottom of the page is grid of photos showing what was inside every pack, 2 packs at a time. Each pack comes with 4 commons and 1 holo, which could be a Rare (R), Double Rare (RR), or Triple Rare (RRR). The photo directly below shows all the Rares we got. I want to note in particular, that these 22 Rares are all of the Rares in the set, with one copy of each.
The remaining 8 packs translated to 5 RRs (on the left), and 3 RRRs (on the right). For reference, the set had 12 possible RRs and 8 possible RRRs.
As mentioned earlier, the photos above shows every pack opening, two at a time. The holo being the 2 cards in the center of the photo. In addition to completing the entire set of Rares, we also completed the entire set of Commons, with 2 copies of each one on average (a few had 1 copy or 3 copies). To me, this doesn’t seem like a coincidence that we got every Rare and Common card in one booster box.
Everyone that I have talked to, on what drew them into Vanguard, liked the card illustrations. In fact, on each card on the bottom right corner, is the name of the artist that drew the illustration for that card. I am also really impressed by the card quality, as the card feels strong and rigid. The holographic finish has no spill and even the back of the card looks nice.
