Room During Apartment #2 (Davis) – 2014

It has been almost a year since I lived in this apartment. To this day, I feel grateful that my roommate saved me from what could have been more treacherous years of living with problematic people. However, my roommate is graduating and will be moving out to face life. Meanwhile, I still have another year here. Because of my roommate moving out, some changes had to be made. I put up my room for rent, and moved my stuff out into the living room space where my friend used to be.

Here is an overview of the area near my desk. The layout largely haven’t changed, as my desk, TV, and bed are still together facing the same direction as before. However, there is now a large west facing window on the immediate right of the desk. I used to have a problem taking photos in my dark room, but now there is plenty of light during the afternoon.

My TV now sits on the kotatsu instead of the coffee table. I really do like this kotatsu and I am glad that I was able to bring it back from Japan. Unfortunately, I ruined the mat by accident when I tried to wash them. The problem was that it couldn’t tumble properly in the dryer and so the heat melted the plastic layer in several spots on the underside of the mat. While the damage was beyond repair, it was mostly the underside that got burnt, so it doesn’t look too bad during use.

My bed haven’t changed at all. The walls are still fairly empty as I haven’t had time to really go and decorate the space.

The glass table had moved its location in the layout. It is now on the wall of the desk rather than the bed. None of the photos here show the layout of the room very well, but to the right of this desk is the shoe box and the front door into the apartment. Since I am in the living room, I only have 3 walls.

The coffee table is now placed at the end of the bed, and now serves as my modeling table. This area gets messy quite often from all the modeling supplies and pieces laying around. The wall actually ends at the edge of the table and leads into the kitchen.

The state of the apartment is still quite messy and hectic from everyone moving stuff around and packing up, so I can’t really show you the rest of the apartment. This post was a quick look at my stuff in their new location in the living room and an idea of how my space has changed. A detailed post showing the new state of the apartment will be made once things settle down. From now on for a year, this will be my room, the space where I live.
