First Christmas in Japan – 2016

Merry Christmas! Although this year’s Christmas was another lonely one that went by with little celebration, I did whatever I could to make the day a little more special. To celebrate, I bought myself some presents and a cake. Unexpectedly and very gratefully, my little brother bought me the game Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization. I also kept Christmas BGM on loop for a few days to get into the holiday mood.

For my own presents to myself, the Figure-rise Bust of Hoshino Fumina from Gundam Build Fighters Try released just recently. As a modeler, the Figure-rise Bust series of model kits interested me. And as a Gundam fan, Fumina was the perfect character for me to enter this line of models with. In addition to Fumina, I also purchased the HG Shiden. I contemplated between the regular Shiden or Shino’s custom Shiden, but P-Bandai exclusives are just harder to get and the boxes are not so pretty.

At the local supermarket, I browsed around for any small cakes and I decided upon this Hershey’s cookie & cream flavored cake. The verdict? It was absolutely delicious. I have always liked cookie & cream, and this cake did not disappoint. With Christmas BGM on, I promptly begin building the Shiden while satisfying my tastes buds one bite at a time.

After building the Shiden for some time, I moved on to opening my little brother’s present to me, the PS Vita game Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization. It is a game that I have looked forward to playing and have been wanting since its release for the past couple months. I had actually given up on being able to play this game any time soon because I couldn’t buy it myself. Now it is in my hands thanks to my brother. I played the game for two hours, checking out all the new things, running around, and getting used to the new combat system.

And that was how I spent the Christmas of 2016, my first Christmas in Japan.
