Life This Month 52 – April 2016

If March could be summarized as job hunting the whole month, then April isn’t much different. This month started off with two online interviews and both ended up in rejection. Back to square one. I continued to send out more applications and emails, but nothing.

On PSO2, I finally saved up enough 深遠 crystals for got an Invade weapon. All 3 of the Fighter weapons look good, but I decided on getting the Twin Daggers first. The week long CM boost that I was looking forward to was finally in effect. Sadly, I only had the opportunity to do the missions just a couple of times. The 新体験への出航 update went live on the 20th, coinciding with the PS4 release of the game. It was a big update, but I was able to fit the download on my PSV after deleting some game demos.

Recently, I have been feeling tired of PSO2 and thought about playing other online games. I browsed around to see if there were any interesting and a couple caught my eyes. But I guess it didn’t matter because truthfully, there is no way my PC could possibly run any of them.

On Halo 5, the Ghosts of Meridian update was released early in the month. The main point of interest was the new Warzone map, Skirmish at Darkstar. It is currently my favorite Warzone map because the of interspersed AI enemies and being able to fight over the bosses fairly. On the other hand, a bunch of horrible maps was added to Big Team Battle and is now unplayable for me. With the Warzone Firefight Beta going live in Halo 5, my little brother returned to Halo and I played some matches with him. The Warzone Firefight was nice, but lacked challenge and excitement. The only difficult objective was frustrating rather than fun to challenge.

With the HG Full Armor Unicorn fully built, the next model I want to get the straight build completed was the HG Star Build Strike Gundam Ver. RG System. My little brother has his own HG Star Build Strike, so I wanted to build them at the same time together. My brother didn’t felt like modeling much this month, so this is the state of it so far.

My friend who I recently got back in contact with in March (who I will refer to as Rafflima), mentioned that he wanted to visit SF Japantown since it has been years since the last time we went together. So we drove over there on Saturday the 16th, which turned out to be a bad day as it coincided with the Taiko Festival. It took us over an hour to find parking off in the distance. After a jog to Japantown, we chilled out with some ice cream. We walked through the crowds casually glancing over the different stalls on the street before heading into the mall. We spent most of our time at the model kit section of two stores. I only briefly walked through Kinokuniya, as I didn’t want to take too much time. Before leaving Japantown, I knew that I need to grab the HG Gundam Barbatos from one of the store. Rafflima offered to buy it for me as a gift.

Since I am really excited to build my own Barbatos, I started the build on the 22nd, completing the torso on that day. As usual of me, I tried to build just the frame before layering it with armor. I continued over the next few days until the frame was completed. Finally! My patience has ran out and I proceeded to work on a bunch of modifications on the head parts. For me, the best part of modeling is coming up with my own unique approach to the build. All the modifications I am doing on Barabatos’s head will take some time, and I am hoping that it will turn out awesome.

On the 23rd, I chat online with the friend who was my roommate during my first time in Japan. He seems to be doing well. He got a seasonal job and is now saving up money. I wish I could say the same for myself. We discussed our my plans for the future for a bit. After enough serious talk, we chat about games. Recently, a number of friends has been making good progress on life, such as the friend mentioned above, or Xyrenth who got accepted into JET and also Corvus who got the JCHIP internship. I don’t want to get left behind, so I must keep pushing on.

The anime I watched this month:

  • One Piece (ep.654-664. Rebecca fighting, the secret of the toys.)
  • Fairy Tail (ep.31-43. Finished Loki’s story, finished Erza’s Rakuen no Tou arc.)
  • Cardfight! Vanguard: Asia Circuit (started)
  • Full Metal Panic (ep.15)
  • Rinne no Lagrange (finished)
  • Hacka Doll (ep.10-11)
  • PSO2 The Animation (ep.10)

The manga I read:

  • Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (finished Vol.17)

HG Barbatos is one of the best kit I ever met. Already built and paint (straight build though) mine from last year GBWC, and today I started doing 1/100 Barbatos 6th.
