March was not a very fun month for me, especially the latter half. After deciding that I truly do not want to stay in the US for any longer, my current objective is simple, to get to Japan as soon as possible someway somehow. So I spent a lot of my time searching for jobs that I can apply for online and writing a corresponding resume and cover letter for the job type. By the end of the month, I submitted 16 applications.
I realized that my desk has been pretty scarce on displayed figures. I can think of a few reasons that contributed to this, but simply put, I haven’t been in the mood. However, I remember being excited for Figma Amatsukaze and I still haven’t opened the box, so I thought that I could at least take her out for display.
On the first weekend, I finally finished the third chapter in the PSP Toaru Kagaku no Railgun game. The third chapter was really long and complex with lots of branching points. The story is also getting more deep and serious.
On that weekend, I also chat online with one of my old friends, Oblivion. He is still in college, so I asked him how’s life and if he has any goals after graduating. Because of my job hunt, that kind of thing has been on my mind. We talked about games and how we miss the Rockman franchise, especially Rockman EXE.
Whenever I can on some mornings, I proceeded a bit on BaldrSky. It has been years since I started this game, and I have been playing it a few hours at a time here and there with large breaks between some sessions. Currently, I have logged 138 hours of game time. I just finished Nanoha’s first bad ending. Before going for the second bad ending, I went back to some of the earlier routes to grab stuff I missed before.
On the 11th, after playing PSO2 with Xyrenth, I suggested the idea of practicing Japanese together by reading a light novel. Truthfully, it was me who really wanted to practice. Although my Japanese is better than any of my close friends (3 of whom are Japanese majors), I am still not close to being the level of a native speaker. Now that I am job hunting for Japan, I really need to be competent at my language skills. Anyways, I browsed around for interesting titles, and I settled on this novel called ナイツ＆マジック (Knight’s & Magic). It wasn’t difficult for me but it was challenging for Xyrenth, the kanji in particular. After 2 hours, we read one and a half pages. We will likely get faster, but the first volume alone will likely take us a while to finish.
In Halo, I achieved having more assists over deaths in all of the Big Team Battle game modes. It is a personal goal for myself and nothing more than that. Sadly, it seems impossible to achieve that in other Arena game modes.
While thinking about my plans for Japan, I couldn’t help but also think about this one good friend of mine that I haven’t seen for years. It would be a real pity if I don’t get his contact info and stay in touch. So on Sunday the 13th, I decided to pay him a visit and thankfully, he still lived in the same house. His mom invited me in and the three of us sat down in the living room chatting about our last few years, as well as about education, culture, and plans for the future. After some time, I invited my friend to go over to my place where I showed him some of my stuff and talked about games. There is always more stuff I want to show friends, but it was getting late so we called it a day. As a reunion gift, I gave him the MG 00 Gundam 7 Swords/G.
Around the end of the month was Spring Break for some of my friends, but oddly enough, nobody seemed to be available. The sad part was that it was the week of boosted events on PSO2. I logged on and played a bit by myself, mostly doing Ultimate quests but no 13☆ dropped. Frustratingly, I am still experiencing random disconnects while playing on the PSV. I am getting quite tired of it at this point in time…
The highlight of this month has got to be me and my brother’s marathon of Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans. We have been planning for this and waiting until the series ended to watch all of it in one go. We actually ended up doing two sittings of about 6 hours each. We started at 7:30 pm on the 30th, watched all of the episodes under the first Opening, stopping at 2 am. Then the next evening, we begin at around the same time and watched until the last episode. The series was really good. The final battle really struck fear into me. Can’t wait to see more of Tekkandan.
This month, I watched the following:
- Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans (started – finished)
- Full Metal Panic (started-14. Art style feels very old. Much more romance than mecha action. Finished the Behemoth part.)
- Fairy Tail (ep.11-30. Post Phantom Lord conflict.)
- One Piece (ep.645-654. Continuing on coliseum, at D block. Conflict at Greenbit and ship.)
- Shokugeki no Souma (ep.3-4)
- Hacka Doll (ep.6-9)
And read these manga:
- Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (finished vol.16 – last Goddess left.)
- Shokugeki no Souma (on vol.7 – continuing on Aki no Senbatsu)
- Zombitch ha Bitch ni Fukumaremasuka? (on vol.5)
- Ikusaba Animation (started)
