Early in the month, my planned activities did not went as planned. I really want to start a project, but still had blog posts to catch up on. The bright windows made it hard to take photos and I was still typing September stuff by the 8th. I decided that I will not think too deeply and simply type more relaxed, quickly, and efficiently. The sunlight and hot room also melted away any motivation and desire to be at my desk. I’m currently looking into new curtains to reduce the glare. Despite being in this room for a few months, I still wasn’t satisfied with the layout/arrangement of the room. I made a few changes: modifying the TV area and laying down blankets around the kotatsu, which lead to me cleaning up our messy living room as well.
The anticipated brand new Gundam series, Tekketsu no Orphans, is now airing. And with it, the releases of new Gundam model kits as well. I also came across news of a Sword Art Online movie being in production, along with another new SAO game. So much new things to stay on top of!
On Sunday the 4th, I skyped in for the model club as usual. I continued building the HG Unicorn Gundam, completing lower torso and upper legs. I had already sharpened the horn. The neat thing about Skype is that I can just mute my speakers to tune out of any undesirable conversations, like whenever they start talking about the new Gundam series. I don’t want to be pressured into watching it this early, especially when I will be out of the country for a while in just a few weeks. Even after the club’s gathering, I continued working on the HG Unicorn because I really wanted to see it standing. The knees had some bad part alignment, so that took some time to level evenly. I am thinking of maybe modifying the knee bend mechanism.
The release date for Halo 5: Guardians continues to draw nearer with each day. I kept myself pretty dark on the gameplay, speculation, or anything that could spoil my experience; only watching the live-action trailers or listening to Hunt the Truth, a series of audio episodes related to Halo 5.
Lately, I have been wanting to watch a J-RPG story. Yeah, watch, not play for myself. So I have been watching my little brother play Tales of Graces on the PS3. By the time I started watching him play, he was at ストラタ, the desert continent. The only other J-RPGs I remember having played were Star Ocean 3 and Final Fantasy 10 on the PS2. While I never finished either of those, it is interesting to compare the Tales series with them.
The news of another Sword Art Online game coming out really pressured me to finish Hollow Fragment. Because after finishing SAO:HF, I would need to start on SAO: Lost Song, and finish that before I play the newest game. So in SAO: HF, I finally reached 5th region and then explored around, with my little brother taking on all the high level monsters. To clear the region, you have to fight the boss a few times as it fights and then escapes further into the area. Funny thing was that during the 2nd battle, it had escaped but something glitched and it came back. I killed it, getting some EXP, but that didn’t count and I still had to enter the boss room to fight it for the last time. I proceeded to the final part of the game and after a few tries, cleared the Hollow Fragment arc of the game. I had not planned to do the Infinite Moment arc, since I had already played through that game on the PSP, but my little brother insisted because they added something new to the ending…
Some random other things that happened this month: I finally got back into drawing a bit, which means that I am slowly moving my project along. I also resumed watching Cross Ange. I’m near the end and I also have the PSV game to play. Xyrenth, who I introduced to Gundam 00, has finished watching both seasons and the movie. Overall, she enjoyed the series and I’m glad to have more friend interested in Gundams and model kits.
On the 17th, I resumed playing Baldr Sky in the morning and later finished finished watching the last episode of Kamen Rider Drive with my little brother. That episode was like an after-epilogue, showing what the characters were doing after the final boss’s defeat and connected with the next Rider, Ghost.
Halo 5 officially launches on the 27th. However, I had purchased the special Halo 5 themed Xbox One, which was released ahead of time to pre-install the full game. And that meant I could play the game on the night of the 26th after the clock hits midnight. So Halo 5 boots up and I arrive at the menu screen. After looking at all the settings, I fired up the first mission. Seeing all the new additions and changes for the first time was pretty exciting. While some may marathon the entire campaign in one night, I stopped after mission one because I want to savor the game over a few weeks, and also enjoy the co-op experience together with my little brother.
The next day’s weather was great all day long (not hot!). After waking up, I played Baldr Sky, proceeded to brand new scenarios and routes. I also finished Cross Ange, watching the last few episodes in one go. The ending was decent, as it definitely could have ended horribly. Since the weather was great, I read some manga, 1 chapter of ToLove-Ru Darkness and 2 chapters of Shokugeki no Souma. Later in the day, I chatted with friends over Skype, talked about future plans and whatnot. My brother’s physical copy of Halo arrived and I installed it for him. When he got home, we tried out the 1st mission together in co-op, and then proceeded to mission two for the first time. We were playing on Heroic difficulty by the way. I was trying to explore and died too much as a result of being careless. ^^;
The day after that was the 28th. I replayed the first two missions in Halo 5. This time purposely looking for the skulls and intels hidden in the levels. I also played my first multiplayer match along with my little brother, Warzone on the map Stormbreak. 22 kills, 16 assists and 10 deaths. Victory 1000 vs 770. It was a pretty good match, although there were a few dumb deaths. The REQ system wasn’t working, so we played the entire game with basic weapons.
Shows that I watched this month were:
- Gundam: G no Reconqista (ep.18-24)
- Cross Ange (finished)
- one piece (ep.617-624)
- Yugioh 5D’s (ep.43-55)
- Yugioh GX (ep.52-54)
- Cardfight!! Vanguard (ep.1-2)
- Kamen Rider Drive (finished)
- Kamen Rider Ghost (started)
