This month was one of those periods of time that felt unrealistically long. Looking back at my Life-This-Month post for March, I find it hard to believe that it was only a single month ago since I wrote that. April was quite stressful, and bad luck only made it worse.
The stressful part includes schoolwork as always, but in addition, setting up for my 2nd trip abroad to Japan has been messy. But perhaps worse of all, was the gust of bad luck.
Due to my carelessness, I had done irreversible damage to my Nendoroid Miku 2.0’s front hair piece. Does this sound familiar? Back in November of 2013, I had damaged my Nendoroid Asuna’s front hair piece. However, while Asuna escaped with a minor paint-scratch, the Miku’s damage is a lot more apparent.
I was painting the katanas of my 1/144 Valvrave I Hito when it happened. I had a red Gundam marker in my hand, trying to paint some details when the marker’s paint did not come out well mixed. Reasonably, I shook the marker to mix the paint. And then I continued on, until I realized that there were some mysterious red dots on my desk. Confused, I continued to look around my desk, following a trail of red dots up to my Nendoroid Miku 2.0, who had a big dot of red paint on her front hair piece.
Only then did I realize what I had done. Immediately, I tried to get the dot of red paint off with some rubbing alcohol, but it was futile. The red had already seeped into original paint. With no other options, I sanded off the red, resulting in what you see above. I’m deeply disappointed with myself.
Back on my desk, there were numerous dots of red paint, some of which were just a couple centimeters away from my manga, Figma Mikoto, Figma Index, posters, and even my Nendoroid Erio that was just taken out of the box recently. Nendoroid Miku 2.0 was the only victim. While I’m glad to be the fortunate in misfortune, I can’t help but to sigh at my failure. I had almost destroyed everything.
After that, while I did finish the four katanas with the Gundam marker, I ran out of red spray paint to finish the sheaths. This model had burned through 2 cans of red spray paint, and still I need just a bit more. The four sheaths and the gun is all that is left.
My bad luck doesn’t end however, for the above happened to my sole package this month. I will go into details in my Monthly Loots post, but long story short, a room- mate thought that the package was his and so he ripped opened the package like a barbarian. What was important was not damaged, so once again the fortunate in misfortune. However, I was extremely angry nonetheless, and thus I took a big stick out to our backyard where I then yelled as loud as I could while repeatedly smashing the stick against the side of the tree. After the stick got demolished and having invoked some surprised screams and curiosity from my neighbors, I went back inside for a hot shower to further drown my anger.
PS: It wasn’t too long ago when the same roommate completely shattered one of my plastic bowls. Not cracked or split apart, but completely shattered into several fragments.
Around noon is when I usually watch anime while eating lunch. But likely due to all the unpleasant things during the month, I haven’t been able to just sit and enjoy anime. The only exception was Steins;Gate, which captured my full attention. Trying to watch anything else though and my mind wanders and think about worrisome problems.
Perhaps in return, I made more of an effort to play eroge, mainly Baldr Sky and Ren’ai 0 Kilometer. I had a few days where I was able to just relax in bed and read manga as well. I’m currently focused on Shokugeki no Souma, ToLove-Ru Darkness, Seiten Koukou Idol-Bu!, and Minamoto-kun Monogatari. Speaking of which, Minamoto-kun Monogatari Vol. 5 was released on the 18th. *sigh* I need to somehow get that.
